Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you going to be located?
First and foremost, we will be a Cookeville church. In this city, location doesn't matter as much as big cities like Nashville. People travel from Baxter, Algood, Bloomington Springs, and beyond to go to church in Cookeville. Cookeville is the hub of the Upper Cumberland.
There are a couple options that we are actively pursuing. Ideally we would love to move into a church building that isn't being used, or has a few members that are willing to partner with us in what is called a "replant".
If we cannot find a facility in this way, we will be what's called a "portable church". A portable church is a church that has a trailer filled with all the essentials for running a Sunday morning worship gathering. This would free us up to worship in the movie theater, a middle school, or hotel conference room.
Our most desired option is the first, but we are trusting that the Spirit is leading us where we need to go and how we will gather for worship.

What is Kid's Ministry going to be like?
Kid's Ministry is going to be a place of safe fun, fellowship, and learning about Jesus. We will have gathered times to learn the question and answer of the New City Catechism for that week, and then kids and youth will break off into their respective rooms to work through the Gospel Project.
What will Sunday mornings look like?
There will be two hours on a regular Sunday morning. Sunday School will begin at 9:00 am. During Sunday School there will be spaces for pre-school, kids, and youth to fellowship and work through our curriculum. At the same time, there will be various seminars that adults can participate in. At 10:30 we will gather for worship. If desired, we will have childcare available for babies through 5 years old. Sunday morning worship will look familiar. We will sing the Word, pray the Word, preach the Word, and participate in the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Will there be community groups?
On Sunday mornings we will have two hours. The first hour will be age segregated groups, and adult seminars that vary by topic. These seminars will foster community, but will primarily be educational in nature. On Wednesday nights, we will have groups meeting in homes throughout our community. The primary purpose of these home groups is fellowship and mission.
What type of church is this?
Kingdom Community Church is a part of the Southern Baptist Convention. We associate and partner with like-minded churches for the purpose of missions. To learn more about what we believe, visit our beliefs page.
Who will the leaders be?
Kingdom Community Church will be an elder lead, deacon served, and congregationally governed church. Our first elder, appointed by Stevens Street, is Jesse Haywood. Our church will be overseen by three additional elders until our church affirms elders from within. These elders will be Scott Parkison, Lee Bailey, and Rick Lowhorn from Stevens Street. In time, Jesse will identify qualified and called men to be presented before the congregation to be voted on as our elders. Once our elders are established, they will then identify and call out qualified men to be deacons. These deacons will be brought before the church to be voted on.
